Andries is currently the Managing Director for Asia Digital at Aviva plc. He is responsible for leading Aviva’s digital businesses and strategy in Asia, with an initial focus on Hong Kong and Singapore.
Andries’ corporate career has centred on ‘digital’ and ‘transformation’ with a focus on delivering significant and sustainable value right through from strategy to execution.
His previous experience at Aviva includes Culture Transformation Director, leading on a Group-wide programme to accelerate performance; Group Integration Director advising on the Royal Bank of Canada Insurance acquisition; Integration Director for Aviva’s acquisition of Friends Life; Transformation Director leading the company’s digital setup and transformation; and Functions Transformation Director driving simplification and lean functions. In between his corporate career, Andries also found and exited multiple digital startups, including Rent-a-Quad, Redenaars, Habittool and SME Discounts.
Andries qualified as a Chartered Accountant and completed his training through PriceWaterhouseCoopers. Previously he was also Commodities Controller at Morgan Stanley responsible for building a new Dry Freight ‘physicals’ business.
Andries has experience working in South Africa, the UK, Canada and Asia, and his experience has covered organisations small and large: from digital startups to multinationals. His professional training as an ACA, experience as an auditor, transformation and integration specialist and digital entrepreneur gives him a unique advantage in driving organisational transformation and value.
